Low energy RF transceivers
EM Microelectronic's low energy RF circuits are tailored for short-range wireless connectivity and are an attractive choice for a broad range of wireless applications, where power-efficient battery and portable operation are needed.
Thanks to a long-standing design experience in ultra-low power, low-voltage products and with operation voltage as low as 0.8V, EM Microelectronic's RF devices enable applications to take advantage of the wide choice of single-cell batteries available.
The first family of product is tailored for proprietary links where flexibility and customization are needed. The upcoming generation of products will address Bluetooth low energy applications as well.
Low energy is the next step in the Bluetooth® wireless technology evolution. Consuming a fraction of the power, it will give consumers new ways and new segments to use Bluetooth® technology. It is tailored for small devices and it can be built into products such as watches, wireless keyboards, mice, remote controls, sport and health equipments which can then connect to host devices (e.g. mobile phones, other portable solutions).
Bluetooth low energy technology is an open, globally viable radio technology for small devices where power-efficient single battery operation is needed. Low energy technology is easily integrated with traditional Bluetooth® technology. The specification of this new wireless technology will be released during the second half of 2009 and it is expected to be in devices within the following couple of months.
EM Microelectronic is an associate member of the Bluetooth® SIG and is contributing through several working group to improve global specification and expertise in ultra-low power design for Bluetooth low energy wireless technology.
